Hello, my name is Owen Marcus A. Miller, but people call me Owen. I am a 20-year old artist originating from San Francisco and now living in Newton, Massachusetts. I have autism.
I started making art in Elementary School. What made me want to be an artist was reading and studying art from books and looking at different animations - especially by sea life books and "How to Draw" books. I took drawing and digital art classes at Newton South High School. I have done summer workshops at Exceptional minds - a program for students on the autism spectrum that teaches animation and digital arts. I currently attend Mass Bay Community College, where I have taken an art class. I hope to attend an art college in the future.
The different kinds of art that I enjoy doing are illustrations and digital artwork ( I mainly draw from a picture or from memory). The materials that I use for art are STAEDTLER pencils and COPIC markers. I also use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects for digital art.
The subjects that I enjoy drawing are flowers, chibi-anime, yokai/mythical ghosts, dinosaurs. paleoart, and fantasy. I happen to describe my art style as colorful and also a bit realistic. I usually create my art at home. I sometimes listen to instrumental music, but mostly need quiet when trying to focus on making my artwork.
I have shown my artwork on exhibition at MassBay (Pictured right), the community college I attend. I also once sold my artwork at a craft fair. It is very hard for me to choose my favorite pieces of art, but so far, my favorite is the Hokusai-inspired art I made with charcoal during my first year at MassBay.
